Patient Participation Group

We Want You!

A Patient Participation Group, or PPG for short, is a group of volunteer patients and GP practice staff who meet regularly and work together to improve the quality of care and outcomes for patients, and help strengthen the relationship between the practice and our patients.

The PPG is essentially a communication channel to enable sharing of information. PPG members contribute ideas, feedback and suggestions to help the practice tailor services towards the needs of our patients and enhance the overall patient experience.

Although PPGs tend to be set up by GP practices, they are usually run by patients.

Caddington Surgery's PPG was formed in 2012 and has given valuable input and feedback since then, some of which you can read about in the reports available to download in the "Local PG Report" section of this part of the website.

Thank you  very much to the current PPG for all your support and encouragement!

We are keen to recruit more members. We are looking for people from all ages and sections of the community to ensure it is representative. Members will be invited to attend meetings at Caddington Surgery to discuss ideas about the Practice and its services to patients. This is a great opportunity to  get involved and engage in dialogue with the Practice from the patients’ point of view.

The Group meets face-to-face at agreed intervals, and we expect there will be 3 or 4 meetings a year. From past experience, meetings usually last 1 – 1½ hours.

Can anyone join?

Yes, as long as you are:

  • Registered as a patient at Caddington Surgery

  • Over 18 years of age

  • Keen to contribute ideas and give honest and helpful feedback

However, the practice does have a right to refuse an individual if it considers it is in the best interests  of the individual or the Practice.

Please note, you will need to sign a confidentiality agreement to join the PPG and abide by the Group’s agreed Terms of Reference.

An effective PPG represents the entire practice population, not personal or individual views.

It is a forum for the patient voice and should not be used for individual issues.
