So how much will Corporations really value your Family's Health?

Your Family Doctor is for Life not just a dayLots of us see the same doctor while we are growing up. As our GP builds up a personal medical record and a special knowledge of us, so we come to know and trust them too. Very often, the same GPs look after whole families; our children, our parents, even our grandparents. So they really get to know us and our medical history over the years.
However this may all be set to change.
Despite the fact that British General Practice is seen as one of the best in the world, the Government plans to set up "new clinics” covering large numbers of the population, in direct competition with your local GP surgery. What’s more, big private national and international corporations can bid to run these clinics, in fact, they are already running general practice in some parts of the country. We are worried that this may result in your local practice not having sufficient patients or funds to keep running.
What does this mean?
In simple terms, you could lose your family doctor forever.

How can you make a difference?

Bedforshire and Hertfordshire Local Medical Committee - Working in partnership for excellence in General PracticeWe can only save General Practice if we all do something about it now. So if your local surgery is important to you and your family, if you feel your GP deserves your support, then please act today to help our cause and to make your voice heard. You can book an appointment to see a Dunstable Citizens Advice Bureau adviser here in Caddington Surgery. This service is available via an appointment only, every other Friday morning. Please ask at reception to book an appointment.

Citizens Advice provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice on may issues including benefits, employment, debt, housing and legal issues.  (Priority given to clients who are unable or would find it difficult to get to Dunstable CAB.)

Are you hard of hearing?

T-Loop symbolThe surgery has a portable T-loop to help hearing aid wearers. To make use of this please switch your hearing aid on to T when you speak to the receptionist and ask that the loop be used in your consultation when you check in. The T-loop can also be taken by the doctor or (district) nurse on home visits if you request this in advance. We regret that occasionally the facility will not be available if in use with another patient.

You may also like to know that hearing aid batteries are now available from reception.

Repeat Prescriptions

Why not try our "Request Repeat Prescriptions by E-mail" service?  It seems to be increasingly popular with our patients.
